How much will ESOS cost …
We get asked frequently what “typical” costs would be in complying with the new ESOS regulations.

It’s a tough one to answer, as every company is very different and in the final analysis, the overall cost may be zero or negative because you will end up saving money from the improvements you carry out.

As a rule of thumb, however, …

The Carbon Trust issued guidance saying that costs of between £5,500 and £8,500 could be expected for the planning stages alone, *before* any of grunt work is done in the actual audits and improvement works themselves. What this then ends up being is anyone’s guess.
One speakers at the Energy Event was quoting figures of between £23,000 – £27,000 for ESOS compliance for a 10 site company and £27,000 – £32,000 for ISO50001 compliance
Another speaker indicated costs of between £15,000 and £25,000 for a 7 site company
The last few quotes we issued for Easy ESOS – our DIY ESOS system – were between £5,000 and £10,000 for a 20 site company
On top of all of these costs you can expect fees for sub metering where required (£700 per distribution board) and the costs of actually implementing the improvements works themselves, but I hope the above is at least a pointer for you on what to expect.

One thing is for certain though, with the large size of the Evidence Pack itself and the large amount of information you need to collate properly into the Evidence Pack, the costs of doing this exercise manually using Excel and a clipboard are prohibitive.

I hope this helps,

Darryl.
