Science-based targets (SBT) are targets that help companies define their journey to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, helping prevent the worst impacts of climate change and future-proof business growth. Targets are considered ‘science-based’ if they are consistent with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Companies committed to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) are demonstrating that creating a climate-secure world goes hand-in-hand with successful business operations.
It has been proven that setting up SBT can help a company grow by boosting profitability, improving investor confidence, driving innovation, reducing regulatory uncertainty, and strengthening brand reputation.
Enistic offers a streamlined, automated solution that simplifies setting up SBT and the SBTi submission, saving you time and money. With SBT experts in-house, Enistic provides accurate insights that enable businesses to make informed decisions and reduce their Carbon Footprint.
SBTi application <-> Enistic Platform
Why is it important to set SBT?
To complete an SBTi application successfully, you first need to set aligned Science-Based Targets. Setting SBTs is proof of your commitment to the environment and will demonstrate your engagement with sustainability.
At Enistic we know how challenging it can be to set carbon reduction targets that meet SBTi’s criteria. We will work together with you to develop SBTs and ensure that they are validated. You will have full access to our carbon accounting platform and our SBT experts.
A full and accurate Carbon Footprint analysis is required for setting up SBTs. Understanding the impact of your carbon emissions is essential for effective climate action and sustainability strategies.
Increasingly, governments and regulatory bodies are demanding carbon emissions reporting and reductions. Setting up SBTs and submitting your application to SBTi sets your company ahead of the curve, and ensures your are ready to comply with new environmental regulations and avoid penalties.
Identifying emission hotspots within your organisation helps mitigate the risks associated with climate change, such as disruptions due to extreme weather events or regulatory changes.
Consumers, customers, investors, and other stakeholders are increasingly demanding transparency and action on climate issues. Having SBTs in place demonstrates corporate responsibility towards the planet and enhances brand reputation.
Analysing carbon emissions can uncover opportunities for greater efficiency and cost savings. It can help you reduce energy consumption, waste, and resources across the supply chain.
What do you need to include in a SBT?
