IFRS S1 and S2 Compliance
The ISSB’s sustainability disclosure standards are becoming the global baseline for investor-grade reporting. Enistic helps you produce IFRS S1 and S2 disclosures that stand up to scrutiny, without building a reporting function from scratch.
Why IFRS S1 and S2 Matter
IFRS S1 covers general sustainability-related financial disclosures, while IFRS S2 focuses specifically on climate-related risks and opportunities.
Together they’re being adopted or referenced by regulators worldwide as the standard for investor-facing sustainability reporting.
- Investors and lenders increasingly expect IFRS-aligned disclosures alongside financial statements.
- S2 requires Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions data plus climate risk scenario analysis.
- Jurisdictions are progressively mandating or referencing ISSB standards.
- Boards need governance and strategy disclosures, not just emissions numbers.

Measure
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and are the reference point against which emission reductions can be measured.
Aims and targets
Targets allow you to judge whether the plans you made to reduce your carbon emissions are working, and whether the reductions achieved are meaningful.

Reduce
Select best carbon reduction projects for you and your business, based on your values, the cost, and likely payback time.

Track
Track your carbon emissions to reflect the changes and compare how well you are doing against the targets.

Offset
Offset schemes work by paying volunteers, companies or charities to do things which ‘negate’ your carbon emissions, for example, planting trees.

Certify
Certification is a valuable process that provides checks and balances for the sector.

Frequently asked questions – IFRS
What is the difference between IFRS S1 and S2?
IFRS S1 covers general sustainability-related financial disclosures, setting out how sustainability risks and opportunities affect an organisation’s prospects. IFRS S2 focuses specifically on climate-related disclosures, including emissions data and climate risk. Most organisations need to report against both together.
Is IFRS S1 and S2 reporting mandatory?
Requirements vary by jurisdiction. Some regulators have already mandated ISSB-aligned disclosures, while others reference the standards as best practice or are phasing them in. Even where it isn’t yet mandatory, investors and lenders are increasingly expecting it as the baseline for credible sustainability reporting.
What data do I need for IFRS S2?
IFRS S2 requires Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions data, alongside climate-related risk and opportunity disclosures and scenario analysis. Enistic calculates the full emissions picture and helps structure the risk and governance disclosures that sit alongside it.
How is this different from our existing carbon reporting?
IFRS S1 and S2 go beyond a carbon footprint. They require governance, strategy, and risk management disclosures in addition to emissions data, structured around the ISSB’s four pillars. Enistic builds on emissions data you may already have and organises it into a format that meets the full standard.
Can Enistic support us if we're new to IFRS reporting?
Yes. We start with a gap assessment against the full IFRS S1 and S2 requirements, then your named consultant guides you through what’s missing, from data collection through to sign-off, so you’re not building a reporting function from scratch.
