From 2025, the European Union will require large and listed companies to disclose information on risks and opportunities related to their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, particularly on the impact of their activities on people and the environment. The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will replace the EU’s existing ESG reporting framework (the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD)), and will set a higher standard for the scope and rigour of sustainability reporting. CSRD will cover a wide range of categories beyond carbon emissions, including pollution, water, waste, and biodiversity, and it will need to be included in annual reports, and will be subject to audit assurance.
Your CSRD Requirement <-> Enistic Software
Who qualifies for CSRD?
In 2026, all companies subject to NFRD must file a report based on their FY2024 financial data.
In 2027, all other large european companies must file a report based on the FY 2025 financial data.
There are approximately 50,000 companies that must comply with TCFD.
What topics does CSRD cover?
You will need to disclose a great deal of information.
The information you must disclose is specified in 12 standards, all named “ESRS” followed by the topic that the standard covers.
These are:
Software For All Five Key CSRD Tasks
In theory, CSRD is one cohesive piece of work that helps both the planet become a better place, and your company become not just compliant with the CSRD legislation, but more competitive in the modern corporate environment.
In practice, we can identify 5 logically distinct pieces of work that need to be carried out.
With approximately 4000 datapoints to track for CSRD each year, the Enistic Workflow Manager is invaluable.
Each of the 12 standards has been pre-loaded into a template for you with task tracking, task allocation, progress recording built in.
You need to complete a full Scopes 1, 2, and 3 carbon footprint of your worldwide operations. This includes the usually more complex section of value chain emissions (see below).
Our Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon accounting platform makes this easier for you:
This often takes a significant amount of time, with some companies spending months examining what impact the changing climate has on them and how the could maximise the opportunities that may also be presented.
Enistic bring AI automation to the party which significantly reduces the time it takes to carry out the DMA.
With the Enistic Value Chain module, you can get real insights into your emissions and what to do to reduce them.
Supporting both activity and spend based analysis, you can benefit from 20 years of building up a significant database of company emissions built into the platform at your fingertips.
Enistic has a database of over 50 different carbon reduction projects built in, and a “what-if” analysis tool that allows you examine what the effects would be of different reduction scenarios.
Each project can be tailored by AI to meet your exact needs, with full explanations of how the savings estimates were generated.
The standard requires for Scopes 1, 2, and 3 to be processed including all value chain emissions. On top of that, it requires you to disclose 1,100 specific pieces of information explicitly.
Enistic’s Workflows mean you don’t lose track of what you need to disclose, and the Enistic AI can save you months of work by suggesting text for each disclosure.
Stages of Completing Your CSRD Report
Workflows ensure you don't miss anything out. There are over 1,100 mandatory disclosures in CSRD. Keeping track of progress is essential to completing a successful CSRD project using one of the 12 CSRD templates built in.
Use the GHG Protocol to calculate your Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions. Enistic tracks all of the sites, users, teams, data points you need for the process and uses always up ot date government approved factors.
Work your way through the 1,100 disclosures required using AI to generate suggested text where required. At each stage, your progress is tracked and every change you make is recorded for audit purposes later.
Use the Enistic AI to help categorise suppliers for you and then work with them to reduce emissions in your chain
Use the Enistic AI to help you find risks and opportunities that arise from climate change and suggest suitable text for your report. Use the built in weighting system to change the scoring of each risk and opportunity.
The 57 different carbon reduction projects built into the platform make reductions planning a breeze. AI allows you to not only estimate savings at the press of a button, but view the impact of the projects on your overall reductions targets.

Designed With You In Mind
This is an assessment of both what your organisation does to the environment and what happens to your organisation as the environment changes. Typically, this is done through selecting one of the common scenarios for the earth heating up and using that to identify risks and opportunities for your organisation.
The penalties vary from country to country but are generally a mixture of fines for the company and more severe actions against the directors of a company.
The Enistic AI is generally extremely good and the answers and sample text it provides are on par with what consultants can provide. That said, it does make mistakes and it is necessary to check both the results it gives in the system before submission of your report. As more and more people use the system, the answers it gives are becoming even better and we expect that to be the case for the foreseeable future.
Depending on the size of your organisation, your CSRD report should be submitted alongside your 2025 or 2026 accounts which relate to tax year 2023/24 (large organisations) or 2024/25 (smaller organisations).
When you are ready to file, press the “Submit this report” button in the Reports->CSRD->”Report submission” area. This will convert your report to XBML and file it with the EU. You will then be sent confirmation that the filing has been completed which you should keep as evidence that you have complied with the legislation.
