If you manufacture in England, Scotland or Wales, BICS exempts your qualifying sites from three electricity levies for five years. Worth £35 to £40 per MWh, plus an additional payment expected in 2027.

Do you qualify? Most manufacturers know within two minutes.
Eligibility is assessed site by site, not company-wide, so a business can qualify at one location and not another.
1. Registered at Companies House, with an eligible SIC code recorded against the business.
2. You manufacture a product on the eligible HS code list.
3. The site is in England, Scotland or Wales.
4. At least 33 MWh of grid electricity a year at the site.

If you are eligible, this is what we do for you
The BICS pre-application pack
If you qualify, this is exactly what we do. You review everything before a single form is submitted.
- Your SIC and product HS codes checked against the eligible lists
- Every qualifying manufacturing site identified
- MPANs and six months of electricity bills reviewed
- Eligible manufacturing consumption calculated, and your band confirmed
- Full supporting evidence pack prepared
- Application completed and submitted on your behalf
- Your 2027 payment verified when it arrives
- Your supplier checked, to confirm the exemption is applied at the right value
Applications close 30 November 2026 and cannot be amended once submitted.

Eligibility decisions issued.
April 2027
Renewables Obligation and Feed In Tariff exemptions begin. Capacity Market follows in October 2027.
