Intertronics work hard to be the favourite supplier by being responsive, supportive and easy to do business with.
Sustainability is a core focus for Intertronics, both in operations and product offerings. As an environmentally conscious organisation, they acknowledge the environmental impact of their activities and are dedicated to continuous improvement in environmental performance.
To further their environmental commitment, Intertronics is undertaking a strategic review to embed carbon reduction across all areas of the business, from supply chains to internal operations and customer-facing processes. With the help and guidance from carbon accountancy firm Enistic, Intertronics has identified key priorities for lowering its carbon footprint and has set clear targets to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Scope Breakdown
Intertronics has demonstrated strong performance in maintaining exceptionally low carbon emissions. This achievement is the result of strategic procedures and sustainability initiatives designed to minimise environmental impact across operations.Given the progress made to date, the company is well-positioned to meet their projected emissions and their overall target of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Completed Carbon Reduction Projects
Renewable Energy
Intertronics now sources all its electricity from certified renewable energy providers through a green energy scheme. This shift has effectively eliminated the company’s Scope 2 emissions, with only minimal emissions remaining from fuel production and grid transmission. As a result, the company’s overall carbon footprint has been significantly reduced.
EV Charging Points
In 2022, Intertronics installed six electric vehicle (EV) charging points at its Kidlington site. While this change has a limited effect on the company’s direct emissions, it supports employees in making environmentally conscious decisions. By providing accessible charging infrastructure at the workplace the company encourages the transition to EVs, thereby helping to reduce commuting emissions. Additionally, Intertronics’ own fleet consists entirely of electric or hybrid vehicles.
Delivery Consolidation
Intertronics has adopted a delivery consolidation strategy, grouping shipments to minimise order frequency and reduce transport-related emissions. The manufacturing of incoming products onto the site are based in the UK, which further limits the environmental impact associated with logistics. This initiative aligns with the company’s broader sustainability goals by cutting overall delivery mileage and associated carbon emissions.
LED Lighting
Intertronics has upgraded all office lighting to energy-efficient LED systems and installed PIR (passive infrared) sensors to further reduce energy consumption. LED lighting significantly lowers electricity use compared to traditional incandescent or fluorescent options, leading to reduced energy costs and a smaller carbon footprint. With a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours, LEDs also contribute to lower maintenance requirements and fewer replacements.
Future Carbon Reduction Projects
Staff Awareness and Engagement

In 2023, Intertronics launched staff training to promote energy-saving practices, particularly in office and technology centre operations. This initiative supports ongoing energy reduction and strengthens employee alignment with sustainability goals.
Inventory and Waste Reduction

Introducing measures to reduce short shelf-life stock and avoid the buildup of excess inventory. The introduction of KPIs to lower scrap rates helps minimise material waste caused by product expiration. This enhances inventory control whilst reducing overall waste and environmental impact.
UPS’s Carbon Neutral Shipping Option

Using UPS’ carbon neutral shipping service, which offsets the emissions generated during the delivery process. Through this programme, UPS calculates the carbon footprint of each shipment and invests in certified offset projects, such as renewable energy and reforestation initiatives.
Exploring Solar Panel Investment

Intertronics is assessing the potential installation of solar panels within five years. This would enable them to generate renewable energy on site, reducing reliance on grid electricity and overall carbon emissions. The assessment phase is currently underway to ensure that the project delivers measurable environmental benefits.
